BIANCULLI’S BEST BETS

HBO, 8:00 p.m. ET

If I hadn’t been on a long plane trip heading to Europe, I might not have seen this 2014 comedy – but I’m glad I did, because its freshness and unpredictability really made that trip go by a little faster. Writers and directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller make an all-LEGO, full-length comedy adventure much more fun that it had any right to be. And Chris Pratt, the Parks and Recreation player who provides the voice of reluctant Everyman hero Emmett, used this movie as the first half of an astoundingly improbable star-making one-two punch. The second punch, released later the same year, was the equally unlikely, terrible-sounding, and delightfully entertaining Guardians of the Galaxy.

TCM, 8:00 p.m. ET

What a case, and what a movie. Marlon Brando, Lee J. Cobb, Karl Malden and Rod Steiger star in this 1954 classic about dockside corruption, loyalty and personal integrity. Elia Kazan directs, Budd Schulberg wrote the script, and the allegorical echoes of the Communist witch hunts of the mid-Fifties are by no means accidental.

NBC, 10:00 p.m. ET

From 2007: Drew Barrymore is guest host for this week’s Vintage presentation of Saturday Night Live. Watch for the sketch, starring Maya Rudolph, about Donatella Versace’s Super Bowl party, which features Fred Armisen as Prince, Barrymore and Seth Myers as Posh Spice and David Beckham, and Horatio Sanz as Elton John.

BBC America, 10:00 p.m. ET

Among Graham’s guests tonight: Catherine Tate, who tells a very funny story about repeatedly wetting herself during school as a child, and Shirley Bassey, who doesn’t.

NBC, 11:30 p.m. ET

Two return appearances on tonight’s new edition of Saturday Night Live: The guest host is Woody Harrelson, and the music guest is Kendrick Lamar.

Pelayanan paling anjing yang pernah kami alami. Setelah uang masuk, sikap berubah total.

Hormat saya,

Dave
