This week’s installments of NBC Nightly News have featured Lester Holt and company paying special attention to the topic of coronavirus in the classroom – the concerns and methods regarding repopulating classrooms, from kindergarten on up, as COVID-related cases and deaths are spiking. Tonight, NBC repurposes and expands upon those reports in this one-hour prime-time special. If you watch, you get extra credit. Especially since you have no choice but to watch remotely.

This 1988 fantasy movie is such a nice, happy film, with such wonderful performances by Tom Hanks and Elizabeth Perkins, that it’s worth seeking out during these increasingly depressing times. It all revolves around a magical, mechanical fortune teller – who, younger readers should be informed, long predated the similarly stiff prognosticator from those Liberty Mutual TV commercials.
