In TV sitcoms and even in TV dramas, Peter MacNicol manages to paint more vibrant and oversized characters, with more eccentricity and flat-out fun, than just about anyone, from John Cage on Ally McBeal to Jeff Kane on Veep. Tonight, he guest stars as the mysterious scientist and hermit Doctor Wolcott, who extends an invitation for the boys to come visit his remote cabin. And they go, perhaps a bit too eagerly…

The new episode shown tonight is called “That’s Entertainment.” And it’s likely to live up to that billing, as this year’s story arc has gotten deeper and darker, nudging many of its nascent villains into full-fledged bad guys. And gals, because Barbara, completing her arc from victim to victimizer, is now in charge of her own devoted squad of killers – while Bruce Wayne and Jim Gordon team up to try and stop them.

CBS, 8:30 p.m. ET

In tonight’s episode, Sheldon gets exposed to his first mature comic book – and decides it’s time he acted much more mature at all times, including at the family dinner table.

FX, 10:00 p.m. ET

Tonight’s new episode is called “Champagne Papi,” and has the girls going out for a night of heavy-duty partying – a night that gets even more out of control than they wanted.
