BIANCULLI’S BEST BETS

BBC America, 7:30 p.m. ET

The new BBC America series The Game is a good period spy thriller – but even better are the old, “period” James Bond movies the network is using as appetizers. Tonight, The Game is preceded by the best Bond movie of all, starring the best Bond: Sean Connery in 1964’s Goldfinger, which conquered America the same year as the Beatles. PBS, 9:00 p.m. ET

Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of China, starting planning his burial back when he was king of Qin in 247 BC – and expanded his plans to astounding proportions once he rose to emperor 26 years later. A subterranean city was built by hundreds of thousands of workers, and filled with deadly traps, the emperor’s body, and, standing guard, a virtual army of terracotta warriors. Tonight’s Nova spends time in that amazing mausoleum – and I plan to spend time watching tonight’s program. Check local listings.

ABC, 10:00 p.m. ET

And now, for some more cross-promotional programming from ABC. On tonight’s Nashville, to promote her new music, Rayna (Connie Britton) makes a special singing appearance on Dancing with the Stars, and interacts with that ABC show’s host, Tom Bergeron.

BBC America, 10:00 p.m. ET

Tom Hughes continues to dig deeply, and get in deeper, as the star of this new spy series – and Brian Cox, as the MI-5 boss who trusts almost no one, decides to take the young sleuth into his very small inner circle.

FX, 10:00 p.m. ET

In tonight’s episode, Stanley (Denis O’Hare) continues to target members of the freak show, whom he’s interested in acquiring. And if not alive and well, then, well, a few selected pieces will do…
