CNN’s recent documentary series The Movies was so good, I’m hungry for more (how about a prequel series called The Silents?). Meanwhile, if you’re interested in returning for seconds, CNN tonight is repeating, in one big buffet, the three installments that covered the most recent four decades of filmmaking, beginning at 9 p.m. ET with “The Eighties,” which includes, of course, ET: The Extra-Terrestrial. Lots of memories – and lots of insight, too.

Last week’s season opener included a sad death and a happy birth, and some touching, intimate acting by Maura Tierney, who said much more with her expressions than with any dialogue that was given to her. This week, The Affair gets a new arrival: Anna Paquin, playing a daughter searching for meaning in her mother’s death.
