BIANCULLI’S BEST BETS

ABC, 8:00 p.m. ET

Now that the major exposition is over with, and the characters have been introduced, here we go. In other words, now that Joss Whedon has gotten us up to speed, it’s full speed ahead. And tonight, the action is sky-high -- on the S.H.I.E.L.D. spy plane.

CW, 8:00 p.m. ET

Part 2 of 2. Last week’s two-day iHeartRadio musical bash continues to be presented, in delayed and condensed form, by CW in prime time, with acts that appeal both to the standard CW audience (Justin Timberlake) and to the slightly more aged crowd – as in Paul McCartney (pictured), who previews songs from his upcoming CD, 50 years after releasing his first LP with The Beatles. Am I impressed that he’s still out there, sharing stage time and releasing new music? Yeah, yeah, yeah.

TCM, 8:00 p.m. ET

This 1952 comedy classic is, for my money, the best film musical ever made – in part because it provides a clever satiric account of a pivotal point in the history of cinema, the transition from silent movies to sound. Gene Kelly stars as a silent film star poised to make the transition, with Donald O’Connor as his vaudeville pal and teenaged Debbie Reynolds as a chorus girl on the rise. But how about Jean Hagen as Lina Lamont, the silent screen star with a voice made for silent movies? And Cyd Charisse (pictured with Kelly), stealing one part of this movie with those show-stopping legs, in a role billed only as “Dancer”? You’d think, given her routine and talent, she’d have been given another reindeer name. Prancer, maybe. Or, even better, Vixen.

Fox, 8:30 p.m. ET

In this new episode, Jake (Andy Samberg) is in a slump. And Captain Ray Holt (Andre Braugher) has no patience for it, just as he has little patience for anything else.

CBS, 10:00 p.m. ET

In this new episode, Reese (Jim Caviezel) and Samantha Shaw (Sarah Shahi, now a series regular) go undercover, dressed formally. Or, if things go badly, dressed to kill.

You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this matter to be actually something which I think I would never understand. It seems too complex and extremely broad for me. I am looking forward for your next post, I will try to get the hang of it!
