1990: NBC Presents 'Blind Faith'
February 11, 2019  | By TV WW

On this day in 1990, NBC launched Blind Faith, a two-part miniseries based on the true-crime book by author Joe McGinniss.

The film starred Robert Urich as Robert Marshall, a New Jersey businessman accused of the contract killing of his wife, Maria, played by Joanna Kerns. The supporting cast included Jay Underwood, David Barry Gray and The Big Bang Theory's Johnny Galecki as Marshall's sons. Dennis Farina, Joe Spano, Doris Roberts, Robin Strasser and Gordon Clapp also co-starred.

Blind Faith was nominated for multiple Emmy awards, including Outstanding Miniseries.

A curious footnote: During filming, star Joanna Kerns became acquainted with the eldest Marshall son, Roby, who was a consultant on the film. Kerns introduced him to her Growing Pains co-star, Tracey Gold. Four years later, Marshall and Gold married.
