Encore Love , 7:15 p.m. ET When Sean Penn made that cryptic remark at the Oscars about he and the Academy having neglected the same actress in their own ways, he probably was talking about his estranged wife, Robin Wright. And clarity aside, at least we can agree on this: she gave a wonderful performance in this 1987 movie. As did everyone else. Neglected by Oscars? How was THIS film overlooked? |

NBC, 8 p.m. ET The second episode of this genealogical real-life detective story follows Emmitt Smith as he learns about his family’s past – and learns part of it in a volume with, to him, an eerily meaningful number. |

CBS, 9 p.m. ET Tonight’s episode flashes back to Allison’s wedding – where she, in turn, gets her first flash, of a vision from beyond. |

PBS, 9 p.m. ET (Check local listings) Discussing religion, and science, and other topics with Bill Moyers tonight is NYU President John Sexton. Better tune in, because they’re taking attendance. |

HBO, 9 p.m. ET I could describe the topics of tonight’s conversation, but it hardly matters. Between Karl Pilkington’s skewed outlook on life and Ricky Gervais’ laughter, you’ll be laughing, too. |

Syfy, 9 p.m. ET This series gets a but more intense, and a bit more inventive, every week, as its characters gain not only depth, but purpose. This is one prequel that may end up being better than its mother series – which is something that can’t be said of many, if any, shows. |
