TCM, 8 p.m. ET This 1961 modern Western captures two icons making their last completed films – Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable – and another actor, who would have been an icon had he lived longer, making one of his last films as well: Montgomery Clift. |

HBO, 8 p.m. ET This 2007 thriller is a study in paranoia, starring Jim Carrey as a guy who becomes convinced the number 23 is ruling his life and fate. It falls apart somewhere along the way, but Virginia Madsen makes it worth watching. She has a dual role, and when she gets to play the brunette mystery woman of his feverish imaginings, there’s ample reason for the spike in temperature. |

Starz, 9 p.m. ET What a yummy concoction from such an unsavory-sounding premise: This 2007 animated delight focuses on a street rat whose passion in life is to become a gourmet chef. |

BBC America, 9 p.m. ET This is the second-season finale for this series – and James Marsters returns, once again, to wreak his particularly ruthless brand of revenge. |

The Movie Channel, 10:30 p.m. ET Like The Number 23, this is one of those reality-bending, paranoia-feeding thrillers – but this one, by David Cronenberg, is sort of an ambitious companion piece to his earlier, even creepier Videodrome. Jennifer Jason Leigh and Jude Law star in this 1999 drama, about videogame players who enter into the games rather than just play them. It may sound like Tron, but it’s infinitely darker – so much so that it’s rarely seen on television. |

Fox, 11 p.m. ET Saturday Night Live is in reruns this week anyway, and this series has an extra reason for viewers to tune in: the guest star is Neil Patrick Harris who, in his recent roles on TV, film and Broadway, has proven to be an unusually good sport and well-rounded talent. |
