SERIES PREMIERE: Well, it’s the series premiere on CBS, anyway. This series, an excellent spinoff of the also excellent CBS series
The Good Wife, began not on the CBS broadcast network, but on its streaming sister site CBS All Access, which also offers new iterations of
Star Trek and
The Twilight Zone. But you have to pay for them – while, if you wait long enough, apparently, you might get them for free via CBS, as with tonight’s first two episodes of Season 1 of
The Good Fight. Christine Baranski stars, reprising her role from
The Good Wife, and the series is indeed a very worthy successor. But be forewarned: This broadcast TV version is edited twice. Once for length, because the episodes for CBS All Access often ran more than 10 minutes more than a commercial-filled broadcast “hour.” And once for content, to cut back on the streaming-site-accepted rough language and sexual scenes. So one way or another, on CBS, you get what you pay for. And don’t get what you don’t…
