On Dec. 3, NBC will mount television’s latest live musical broadcast: a TV version of The Wiz, starring young newcomer Shanice Williams as Dorothy, as well as Queen Latifah, David Alan Grier, Uzo Aduba and others. In this promotional special, NBC gives viewers a look behind the scenes, of a production that will arrive, ready or not, in less than two weeks.

This 1987 movie is perfectly suited for a Thanksgiving Eve telecast, because it’s all about a man (Steve Martin) desperately trying to get home to his family in time for Thanksgiving. John Candy plays his often unwelcome traveling companion, and they make for a delightful comedy duo.

Before the Pizza Rat became an Internet sensation, Remy the chef rat was a big hit with kids, and adults, as the star of this 2007 animated Pixar film. With the family gathered for the holiday, it’s a wonderful viewing choice for the entire family – especially for foodies.
