Once again, I’m so glad this new NBC series is here. And hey, any comedy series that starts out making fun of Fresh Air can’t be all bad. And watch, tonight, for co-star Holly Hunter, having a blast as Ted Danson’s co-opted former adversary. I don’t think she’d had this much fun, or been this funny, since working with James L. Brooks on Broadcast News or the Coen Brothers in Raising Arizona and O Brother, Where Art Thou?

It was one week ago today when viewers were tuned in to catch the late-breaking returns in the second of two special election Senate races in Georgia, and to watch Congress certify the electoral college votes awarding the presidency to Joe Biden. And while Democrats ended up winning the Senate by taking both runoff races, and while Congress eventually certified Biden as the winner, something else happened last Wednesday. Something major. Something unthinkable. Something horrid. And because Presi

SERIES PREMIERE: In this new ABC sitcom, Kyra Sedgwick plays an empty nest mom who decides to fly across the country to hover over her grown kids and help raise their respective families. Clearly a pre-pandemic concept, this sitcom also is so old-fashioned that it’s shot multi-camera in front of a studio audience, the I Love Lucy / Mom way. More than that, it's ABC’s only new midseason entry that’s scripted, rather than a reality, competition, game or quiz show. So th

If you avoided this series last season, and even avoided last week’s Season 2 premiere, it may be because the premise sounded just too weird or cute: a young woman awakens from a brain scan to discover she can intermittently see and hear the inner emotions of people around her, as conveyed in song and dance. Or you may have just thought there’s nothing worth watching on the commercial broadcast networks any more. Either way, in this case, you’re wrong – and I urge you to

There’s a significant flashback reveal in tonight’s episode – one that explains how Randall, one member of this show’s extended family, came to be in the same maternity ward as the others. For fans, it’s a long-awaited, key part of the backstory.

SEASON PREMIERE: Season 2 of this Fox series finds a way to give more freedom, and thus more menace, to the serial murderer played by Michael Sheen. Prodigal Son frequently not only stretches credibility, but snaps it – yet Sheen is such a riveting actor, he’s reason enough to keep watching. He’s killer.
