I've got to admit I didn't have high expectations for an imported miniseries focusing on the dramas surrounding a junior hockey team from an extremely cold town in far northern Sweden...

How many years ago did Barry Levinson direct Rain Man, the outstanding character study starring Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise? It was 32 years ago. Actor Stanley Tucci showed he knew his way around a kitchen when cooking up an omelet in real time, in one unbroken and brilliant scene, at the culinary climax of the fabulous 1996 movie Big Night. Now he’s running around Italy, being as friendly and inquisitive as Phil Rosenthal on his food and travel show – and there’s something about watching someone run around in Italy like a free-range chicken right now, when I’m still afraid to enter a groce

DOCUMENTARY MINISERIES PREMIERE: This four-part documentary by Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering looks at the controversial allegations aimed at Woody Allen by longtime companion Mia Farrow. It has the cooperation of Farrow, as well as Dylan Farrow, the now-grown adopted daughter who has accused Allen of child abuse, and several of her friends and former employees – but Allen is heard only in recordings from press conferences, an audiobook reading of his autobiography, or phone conversations tape

The best TV show, and battle, tonight, may not be Allen v. Farrow,  but Oliver v. Cruz. Stay tuned…
