As with yesterday, today’s divisional playoffs are divided between two networks, and two conferences. Today’s first postseason contest, for the AFC, is at 3 p.m. ET, when CBS presents the 11-6 Houston Texans vs. the 12-4 Kansas City Chiefs. The Texans beat the Bills in overtime last week to advance to this game. Then, at 6:30 p.m. ET on Fox, the 12-5 Seattle Seahawks face the 13-3 Green Bay Packers in the NFC Divisional Playoff.

SERIES PREMIERE: This new 10-part miniseries, based on the novel by Stephen King, premieres with an episode directed by Jason Bateman, who also stars as a murder suspect – in a case that becomes increasingly mysterious and, in some ways, irrational. Ben Mendelsohn and Cynthia Erivo play the detectives working on the baffling case, and Richard Price is one of the writer-producers handling this HBO adaptation. The opener is moody and slow-building in a good way, adding to Bateman’s ste

SERIES PREMIERE: This new NBC series is developed by executive producers Mark Bianculli and VJ Boyd, who also wrote the teleplay for tonight’s premiere episode. If you’re wondering if there’s a family connection, there isn’t – VJ and I are entirely unrelated. But yes, Mark is my son, and while I’m not analyzing or deeply criticizing the show here or elsewhere for obvious reasons, I do think it’s a very strong pilot, and there’s no denying my admira

Tonight, in the wee hours of Saturday morning, TCM digs deeply underground to present a pair of John Waters movies from the 1970s. Waters, by now, has long established himself as an eccentric, often-embraced elder statesman of cult cinema, with films that get mass distribution and widespread general acclaim. But my, when he was starting out, he was out there – as this pair of movies certainly attests. Multiple Maniacs, from 1970, is shown first, starring Divine as Lady Divine, pr
