Moonlight Sonata uses that Beethoven composition to propel the story of Jonas Brodsky, a young present-day piano player who lost his hearing before he was old enough to start school...

This is the 20th anniversary of this pitch-perfect sci-fi comedy tribute, which stars Tim Allen as the veteran headliner of a beloved, long-dormant TV science fiction series. Think Star Trek – because that’s what this movie is doing, going so far as to play with the depiction of Allen’s TV sci-fi star as an egocentric celebrity who has problems connecting with his co-stars and supporting players. That’s the reality against which Galaxy Quest veers

For the third day in a row, the CW is presenting a continuing, connected story line on one of its DC Comics series from ubiquitous executive producer Greg Berlanti. It’s called “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” and the CW seems to have an infinite number of alternate shows on which to present it. Sunday, it was Supergirl. Yesterday, it was Batwoman. And today, it’s The Flash.

Last month, TCM presented a full day of Pink Panther movies starring Peter Sellers – not as the titular jewel thief, of course, but as the scene-stealing Inspector Clouseau. Tonight, TCM takes the first (and best) two Pink Panther films and presents them in prime time, as a terrific Tuesday double feature - a pair of best Sellers.

This week’s cross-promotional CW superhero mini-miniseries, “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” which began yesterday on Supergirl, continues tonight on Batwoman. Then it continues tomorrow night on The Flash – the TV equivalent of a storyline stretching across the titles of several comic books from the same company.

This fantasy series keeps advancing its plot each week in a way that makes it more intriguing – but to this point, while such performers as Lin-Manuel Miranda finally have elbowed their way into the spotlight, there’s still a lot of preamble here. And they’re ambling through this preamble, at no deliberate speed. On a weak TV night, it’s still the most attractive option… but that’s grading, atb this point, on a fairly steep curve.

When it's time to make a series pilot, TV people open up the bank vault. The Game of Thrones pilot has been reported at $5-to-10 million. Lost was said to be $10-to-14 million, including buying an old plane...

All the Greg Berlanti DC Comics superhero shows for the CW mount a cross-series narrative of some type each season, imitating the common practice, in both DC and Marvel Comics, to encourage sampling of the less popular titles by spreading a continuing plot among several of them. The same technique works on TV, or makes the attempt, as tonight’s Supergirl launches a new mini-miniseries story line, called “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” that eventually will envelop such si

There’s a lot of change washing over Ray Donovan this season. Jon Voight, as Ray’s father, has been killed, resurrected and exiled out of the country – and those are only the events of three successive, respective episodes. Also in the third episode of this season last week: one of the show’s best supporting players, Katherine Moennig as Lisa, Ray’s private eye assistant, said goodbye and was last seen at the airport heading west – presumably, in rea
