Dogs serving in combat are nothing new – but the specialization and importance of them, assigned to Special Operations units in the years after 9/11, has increased. So has the bond between soldier and animal, and this documentary explains, and explores, that very special bond.

The “new” mutants in this collection of fugitives and refugees are still learning about, and training to use, their powers. The “veteran” mutants, meanwhile, are scrambling to protect the newbies, to rescue fellow mutants that have been captured already, and to prepare for the war that the X-Men have warned them is coming. And also in hiding, with their newly “outed” powerfully gifted teens, are two “normal” parents. Although, as The Gifted demonst

Last night, The Walking Dead comics creator Robert Kirkman unveiled his new AMC documentary series, in which he presents his subjective guided tour through the history of comics. In the opening episode, he looked at the origin and output of Marvel Comics. Today, he turns his attention to DC Comics – and, in particular, to that stable’s most popular new cinematic character, Wonder Woman, and her fascinatingly offbeat, even kinky, origins and themes.

To be honest, Robert Kirkman’s Secret History of the Comics doesn’t reveal many secrets...

After the last presidential election, some women were moved to both march in protest, wearing a notable type of headwear, and eventually run for office. Tonight on a new episode of The Simpsons, we go from pink hats to blue beehives, in a politically charged installment titled “Marge Runs for Mayor.”

The battle continues, on several fronts. What looked like a clear victory for Ezekiel, with no casualties on his side, suddenly erupted at the end of last week’s episode into something much, much worse. And in this week’s episode, a trio of the show’s most beloved characters – Carol, Daryl and Rick – face their own super-serious obstacles as well.

This latest season of Shameless has some of its characters facing some very new problems, challenges and responsibilities. Frank goes out in search of a job – which doesn’t sound like much, except he’s never done it before. And his daughter Fiona, who has taken on increasing duties running both the diner and an apartment building, finds herself fighting to evict a tenant for the first time.

Last week’s Season 2 premiere told two stories, by two different writer-directors, and they began with discernibly different tones. Lodge Kerrigan’s “Erica & Anna” began with an aggressively misogynistic set of sexual encounters between a wealthy chauvinist and his hired escorts, and Amy Seimetz’s “Bria” took a more subdued route, showing a pampered woman, restlessly confined in a witness protection program, seeking secret thrills by photographing he

This week’s new episode is called “Namaste,” and has Larry enrolling in a yoga class – for a nefarious reason, of course.

SERIES PREMIERE: Robert Kirkman (pictured), creator of the graphic novels on which The Walking Dead is based, presents this new documentary series, the first in an ambitious series of nonfiction offerings in which various creative types are given the opportunity to dissect, and reflect upon, their respective genres. Kirkman, of course, takes on comics, and starts with Marvel – home of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, and of The Amazing Spider-Man and The X-Men. For a full review, see David Hinckle
