I’ve always had a special spot for otters (right now, it’d be my koi pond, if any TVWW-reading otters are interested). When I was a college student at the University of Florida, my friends and I would go northwest of Gainesville on occasional weekends to be the first people that day to throw our giant inner tubes, and ourselves, into the Itchetucknee River. Then we’d let the current carry us around the curves, where we’d come upon turtles, snakes, and occasional otters. T

Like Roseanne before it, the ABC sitcom Modern Family has made Halloween an annual TV tradition. And while many family members are ready, even eager, to pass on the torch, Phil and Claire are stalwart holdouts. Tonight’s episode, fittingly, is called “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Phil Dunphy,” and it features Claire as Wonder Woman.

This year’s World Series, between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, pits two of the season’s very best teams against one another: The Dodgers won a best-in-baseball 104 games during the regular season, while the Astros won 101. Other stats likely to go into the triple figures for tonight’s first game, played at Dodger Stadium: The fastest fastballs are all but guaranteed to exceed 100 m.p.h., and the temperature, just before game time, is projected to be a sweltering

Last week, cult leader Kai got his lethal ladies to kill another victim. This time it was one of their own – and in tonight’s episode, Kai has other, more nefarious plans in store. He’s succeeding in his dark, frightening scheme to run for political office – blue hair and all.

SERIES PREMIERE: Amy Sedaris usually is hilarious, but her new showcase series is a mixed bag, with a tone that may not wear well in large doses. In this 10-part comedy series, she plays a TV hostess dispensing advice on cooking, entertaining, exercising, dieting, and other things. Her targets are the likes of Rachel Ray and Martha Stewart – but early tastes of At Home with Amy Sedaris, as a TV character giving advice aimed mostly at female viewers, pale behind Leigh French’s classic

The Battle Rounds continue – and in this second week, continue to escalate in drama because each time a judge uses a “steal” to save, and inherit, a rival team’s losing candidate, there are fewer reprieves in play the rest of the way.
