Another great deal on another collectible TV classic. The Man From U.N.C.L.E. ...you get all four seasons of the '60s spy saga with Robert Vaughn as Napoleon Solo and David "Ducky" McCallum as Illya Kuryakin, working together across the Iron Curtain to thwart the nefarious forces of THRUSH...

You may have read Stuart Elliott's advertising column in The New York Times Monday (3/16), in which he reported that in July the Sci Fi Channel will rename itself -- or respell itself, I guess -- and become Syfy. The trouble, as Elliott relates, is that executives concluded spelling Sci Fi like that was limiting -- Sci Fi, the channel, is also about superheroes and reality shows, which are, in their minds, just cousins of science fiction...

As critics and reporters settled in Monday afternoon for a preview screening in New York City of tonight's [Friday's] super-sized Battlestar Galactica finale (a full two hours and eleven minutes starting at 9 p.m. ET), executive producer Ronald D. Moore asked everyone in the room to raise their right hands and repeat after him, "I swear not to reveal any of the spoilers I see here tonight"...

The best thing about NBC's new series "Kings," is how unusual it is. It's like "Dallas," but with a biblical spin, and with lots of allegorical undertones. It's not subtle, but it IS different. On NBC, which seems hell-bent on churning out enough TV guano to choke itself to death, that makes it almost shockingly intriguing...

Any show that replaces "Knight Rider" on the NBC schedule has to be an improvement. But why, and how, did tonight's new "Chopping Block" series (8 p.m. ET) make it so marginally close? As TV cooking-competition reality shows go, Chopping Block deserves an immediate beheading...

You can't blame this on the current economic crisis, because Ken Burns has known for a year what only now is being made public: General Motors is ending its decades-long corporate sponsorship of Burns and his invaluable PBS documentaries...
